A dry scalp doesn't announce itself. It just feels tight after washing, itches by the afternoon, and gets worse every winter.

Our pre-wash scalp oil sits on the scalp and does its work before you shampoo. Sesame, Sweet Almond and Avocado carry Neem, Tulsi and Rosemary into dry, uncomfortable areas, softening tightness and calming the urge to scratch.

Thirty minutes, or leave it as an overnight hair oil if you have time. Then wash it out.

  • Replenishes tight, moisture-depleted areas
  • Softens dry lengths as well as the scalp

Benefits

Works Where the Yeast Lives

Dandruff starts on the scalp, not in the hair, and most products spend under a minute there before being rinsed. A pre-wash oil sits for thirty minutes or overnight. That contact time is why the lab result is what it is.

Softens Flakes Instead of Scrubbing Them

Dry flakes cling. Scratching and scrubbing at them irritates the scalp further, which is how people end up in a cycle. Oiling first loosens them so the shampoo lifts them away cleanly.

A Natural Dandruff Treatment That's Been Tested

Plenty of natural products make claims. This one holds an independent GLP-compliant lab result showing 99.73% reduction of the yeast behind dandruff, alongside peer-reviewed research on Neem, Rosemary and Centella. Traditional ingredients, modern evidence.

When Medicated Shampoos Leave Your Scalp Feeling Tight

Zinc pyrithione, selenium sulphide and coal tar all do a job. But they can leave your scalp dry and uncomfortable, and quite a few people would rather avoid them altogether. There's none of any of them in this bottle. Instead, Sesame, Sweet Almond and Avocado carry the actives in and replenish the scalp while they're at it.

The Case for Oiling Before You Wash

Oiling the scalp before cleansing has been practised for centuries, and the logic still holds. It replenishes the skin before the shampoo strips it, rather than trying to put moisture back afterwards. Thirty minutes will do, or leave it overnight for something more intensive.
How to Use

1. Section your hair
Divide into two or four sections so the oil reaches the scalp evenly rather than sitting on the hair.

2. Apply directly to the scalp
Use the dropper or your fingertips, working along each parting. Focus on the areas that feel dry or tight.

3. Massage for three to five minutes
Fingertips, not nails. Small circular movements across the whole scalp.

4. Leave it on
Thirty minutes minimum. Overnight for a more intensive treatment, using an old pillowcase or a hair wrap.

5. Shampoo out thoroughly
Apply shampoo to dry, oiled hair first, then add water and lather. Rinse until no residue remains. A second wash may be needed after overnight use.

How often: Once or twice weekly.

FAQ

What's the difference between dandruff and dry scalp?

Dry scalp gives fine, powdery flakes and skin that feels tight, usually worse in winter or after over-washing. Dandruff gives larger, slightly oily flakes, often yellowish, and an itch without the tightness.
The cause is different too. Dry scalp is a moisture problem. Dandruff is driven by Malassezia furfur, a yeast that lives on everyone's skin and feeds on the oils your scalp produces. Plenty of people have both, which is why the flakes don't always look consistent.

Can dandruff cause hair loss?

No, dandruff itself doesn't cause hair loss. It's a common worry, and an understandable one when you can see flakes on your shoulders.
What does cause damage is constant scratching, so it's worth calming the itch rather than living with it. If you're noticing hair loss alongside the flaking, have a word with your GP rather than assuming the two are connected.

Why is my scalp sore?

Usually scratching you've stopped noticing, or a formula that's stripped the skin. Medicated shampoos are effective but drying, and a scalp cleaned aggressively week after week can end up tender.
A pre-wash oil replenishes it rather than cleaning it again, which is the opposite of what most people reach for when their scalp hurts.

Is rosemary oil good for dandruff?

Better than most people expect. Research published in Nature Scientific Reports tested rosemary and neem extracts together and found the combination effective against Malassezia furfur, the yeast behind dandruff.
That's why the two sit together in this formula rather than separately. Rosemary also keeps a rich oil feeling light, which matters when it's going on your scalp for an hour.

Is coconut oil good for dandruff?

It's the one everyone reaches for, and it's a decent moisturiser. But there's little evidence it does anything to the yeast that causes flaking, and it solidifies below room temperature, which makes it awkward to work with.
Neem has the research behind it. Coconut mostly has the reputation.

Does oiling your scalp help dandruff?

When the oil carries something that works and stays on long enough, yes. That's the case for a pre-wash treatment rather than a leave-in: thirty minutes to overnight on the scalp, then washed out.
Ours reduced the yeast behind dandruff by 99.73% in independent laboratory testing.

How do you get rid of dandruff naturally?

Soften the flakes with a pre-wash oil so they lift away rather than needing to be scrubbed, wash with something that clears build-up, then keep going. That last part is where most people slip.
The routine stops the moment the scalp looks clear, and the flaking returns a fortnight later.

Can I use this instead of a medicated shampoo?

Many people do. There's no zinc pyrithione, selenium sulphide or coal tar in it.
If you have a diagnosed scalp condition or you're using something prescribed, check with your GP or pharmacist before changing anything.
