Ayumi Natural Hair Conditioner, Rooted in Ayurvedic Care
Conditioner is the step most of us rush, yet it decides how your hair feels for the rest of the day. Shampoo cleans the scalp. A good hair conditioner softens the lengths, makes combing easier and helps cut down breakage. Each ayurvedic conditioner we make is designed for one hair type, so you can choose by what your hair actually needs.
Our Coconut-Avocado Hair Conditioner is a rich coconut conditioner and moisturising conditioner for dry, brittle hair, and it doubles as a weekly deep conditioner. Volume & Shine is a light volume conditioner for fine hair, Growth & Strengthening is our hair conditioner for weak, thinning hair, and our Anti-Dandruff Scalp Conditioner is a conditioner for dandruff and greasy roots. For a traditional treatment, our Amla Powder and Hibiscus Powder make a natural conditioner mask you mix yourself.
Match Your Hair to the Right Conditioner
| Your Hair | Our Conditioner | Key Ingredients and How to Use |
|---|---|---|
| Dry, damaged or brittle | Coconut-Avocado Hair Conditioner (150ml) | Our coconut conditioner and best conditioner for dry hair, with coconut and avocado oils, vitamin E, neem, lotus and quassia. Lab tested. After shampooing, leave on for 2–5 minutes and rinse. As a deep conditioning treatment, apply to wet hair before shampooing, leave for 5 minutes, rinse, then shampoo. |
| Fine hair with dry ends | Volume & Shine Conditioner (250ml) | Amla, bhringraj, hibiscus, pumpkin seed oil and pro-vitamin B5. Lightweight moisture that won't weigh fine hair down. Lab tested. Apply to the mid-lengths and ends, leave for 3–5 minutes and rinse with warm water. Keep it off the roots. |
| Weak, dull or thinning | Growth & Strengthening Conditioner (250ml) | Argan, amla, bhringraj, shikakai, coconut and pumpkin seed oil. Lab tested for hair growth and reduced hair fall. It helps strengthen thinning hair and reduce breakage and split ends. Apply from the middle to the ends, avoiding the scalp, and leave for 2–5 minutes. |
| Greasy hair with an itchy or flaky scalp | Anti-Dandruff Scalp Conditioner for Oily Hair (250ml) | Tea tree, neem, moringa and nettle, with amla, bhringraj, shikakai and aritha. Lab tested against Malassezia furfur, a yeast linked to dandruff, with up to a 97.96% reduction. Apply from the mid-lengths to the ends, avoiding the roots, leave for 2–5 minutes and rinse with cool or lukewarm water. Use twice a week. |
| You want a traditional hair mask | Amla Powder for Hair Care (100g) and Hibiscus Powder for Hair & Skin Care (100g) | 100% pure Ayurvedic powders. Mix amla with warm water, or hibiscus with rose water or yogurt, into a paste. Apply to the scalp and hair, leave for 20–45 minutes and rinse. Use once or twice a week. Patch test first, and note that amla may slightly darken fair hair. |

Benefits of Conditioner
The benefits of conditioner show up straight away. It smooths the outer layer of each hair, so strands detangle easily and break less when you comb them. It tames frizz, adds shine and leaves hair softer. A rich hair conditioner for damaged hair, such as our Coconut-Avocado, does all of this with extra oils for lengths that have been coloured or heat-styled.
How to Use Conditioner
| Step | What to Do |
|---|---|
| 1. Squeeze out the water | After shampooing, gently squeeze excess water from your hair so the conditioner isn't diluted. |
| 2. Apply to the lengths | Work the conditioner from the mid-lengths to the ends. If your hair is fine or oily, keep it off the roots. |
| 3. Leave it on | Give it the time on its label: 2–5 minutes for most of our conditioners, 3–5 minutes for Volume & Shine. |
| 4. Rinse | Rinse thoroughly with cool, lukewarm or warm water, as your conditioner's label says. |
Deep Conditioning at Home
A weekly deep conditioning treatment is the easiest way to look after dry or damaged lengths, and deep conditioning at home takes just a few minutes. Apply our Coconut-Avocado Hair Conditioner to wet hair before you shampoo, leave it for 5 minutes, rinse, then shampoo as usual. For a longer, more traditional deep conditioning treatment, use an amla or hibiscus powder mask once a week instead.
Conditioner for Dry Hair and Curls
Dry hair and curls need the same thing: plenty of moisture on the lengths. That makes our Coconut-Avocado the best conditioner for dry hair in our range, and the best conditioner for curly hair too. As a coconut conditioner, it's rich enough to soften thick, coarse or curly lengths. Use it after every wash, then once a week as a deep conditioning treatment before you shampoo.
If you have curls, apply it generously while your hair is still soaking wet and comb it through with your fingers or a wide-tooth comb. Curly hair tends to be drier than straight hair, because the scalp's natural oil struggles to travel down each curl. A conditioner for curly hair should be rich, and a weekly deep conditioner helps keep curls soft between washes.
Why Choose an Ayurvedic Conditioner From Us
- One hair type each. Each ayurvedic conditioner in our range is made for a single hair type, from dry and damaged to fine, thinning or greasy.
- Ayurvedic herbs. Amla, bhringraj, shikakai and hibiscus have long been used in Ayurvedic hair care, and you'll find them throughout our range.
- Lab tested. Every hair conditioner in our range is lab tested. Growth & Strengthening was tested for hair growth and reduced hair fall, and Anti-Dandruff against Malassezia furfur.
- No mineral oil. We don't use mineral oil in any of our products.
- PETA certified, vegan and cruelty-free. Every conditioner we make is PETA certified, vegan, cruelty-free and made in the UK.
What to Look for in a Natural Hair Conditioner
- The right weight. A rich moisturising conditioner is the best conditioner for dry hair, thick hair or curls. Fine or oily hair needs something lighter, such as a volume conditioner.
- Herbs that suit your hair. Look for amla and bhringraj for strength, coconut and avocado for dryness, and neem and tea tree for a flaky scalp.
- Testing you can check. Our results are on each product page, so you can see what each natural hair conditioner has been tested for.
- Realistic claims. The best conditioner can reduce breakage and make split ends less likely, but it can't mend them. Regular trims are the only fix for ends that have already split.
Conditioning in UK Conditions
- Hard water. Much of England has hard water, which can leave hair feeling rough. Never skip conditioner after shampooing.
- Winter. Central heating dries hair from October to March. Add a weekly deep conditioning treatment with our Coconut-Avocado Hair Conditioner.
- Summer. In warm, humid weather, a lighter conditioner such as Volume & Shine keeps fine hair from feeling heavy.
