A flaky, itchy scalp is rarely just cosmetic. It is usually the visible sign of a yeast overgrowth, and most dandruff treatments manage what you can see rather than what is causing it.
This is a pre-shampoo scalp treatment with Neem, Rosemary and Tulsi. It goes on before you wash and sits where the yeast actually lives. In independent laboratory testing, it reduced Malassezia furfur, a yeast associated with dandruff, by 99.73% in vitro within ten seconds of contact.
A natural dandruff treatment, tested rather than assumed.

Active Ingredients
Neem
The one doing the heavy lifting on flaking. Neem leaf extract has the longest record of any botanical used on troubled scalps, and paired with rosemary it has been studied for anti-dandruff activity. A treatment, not a moisturiser.
Tulsi
Holy basil is the reason the scratching eases off. It has been used on irritated scalps in Ayurvedic practice for centuries. That matters more than it sounds, because scratching leaves an inflamed scalp, and an inflamed scalp flakes harder.
Centella (Gotu Kola)
Centella asiatica, better known as gotu kola. The comfort ingredient, studied for its effect on the skin barrier. That matters on a scalp scratched raw or stripped by medicated shampoos, because a damaged barrier flakes anyway.
Shikakai
Two Ayurvedic scalp botanicals that predate every anti-dandruff shampoo on the shelf. Fenugreek has long been used on flaking scalps, and shikakai loosens the build-up so your shampoo has less to fight through.
Rosemary oil
Research has examined rosemary and neem extracts together against the yeast associated with dandruff, and that pairing is why both are in this bottle rather than in separate products.
Benefits
A Flaky Scalp Treatment
That Softens Rather Than Scrubs Dry flakes cling. Most people end up scratching or scrubbing at them, which irritates the scalp and produces more flaking a few days later. Oiling first loosens them so the shampoo lifts them away cleanly. You'll notice it in what comes off in the shower rather than what lands on your collar. An Itchy, Flaky Scalp Remedy That Deals With the Cause
The itch is what keeps the whole thing running. You scratch without noticing, the scalp inflames, and an inflamed scalp flakes harder. Tulsi has been used on irritated scalps in Ayurvedic practice for centuries, and Neem works alongside it. Break the scratching and you've broken most of the cycle. How to Get Rid of Scalp Build-Up
Styling residue, dry shampoo and old conditioner settle on the scalp and trap oil underneath. That's what the yeast feeds on, which is why flakes often get worse the more product you use. Think of it as a scalp detox that happens before the wash rather than instead of it.An Anti-Dandruff Treatment Without the Tightness
Medicated shampoos work, and plenty of people can't get on with them. They leave the scalp dry, tender and worse than it started. There are no medicated actives in this bottle. Sesame, sweet almond and avocado carry the botanicals in and replenish the skin while they're there. An Overnight Hair Treatment for Stubborn Flaking
Thirty minutes is the minimum worth bothering with. As a pre-shampoo treatment it has hours on your scalp rather than the minute a shampoo gets, and overnight is where that pays. It's also the answer if you're wondering why your scalp itches at night: warm room, no distractions, and you notice everything. Old pillowcase, shampoo out in the morning, and expect to wash twice. How to Use
1. Section your hair. Divide into sections so the oil reaches the scalp evenly rather
than sitting on the lengths.
2. Apply directly to the scalp. Use the dropper or fingertips, focusing on areas
where flakes and itching are worst.
3. Massage for five minutes. Fingertips, not nails. Small circular movements across
the whole scalp.
4. Leave it on. Thirty minutes minimum, one to two hours is better, overnight for
stubborn flaking. Use an old pillowcase.
5. Shampoo out thoroughly. Apply Ayumi Anti-Dandruff Shampoo to dry, oiled hair first,
then add water and lather. That makes the oil far easier to rinse. Follow with
the conditioner on the lengths.
Use two to three times weekly.

FAQ
How do I get rid of dandruff?
Four steps, repeated for a month:
1. Oil the scalp before washing, so flakes soften and lift rather than needing to be scratched off.
2. Wash two to three times a week with an anti-dandruff shampoo, massaging for a full minute.
3. Condition the mid-lengths and ends only, keeping product off the roots.
4. Keep going once it clears, because dandruff is managed rather than cured.
Most people see a clear difference within two to four weeks. The mistake is stopping the moment your scalp looks better, which is why flaking so often returns a fortnight later.
What causes dandruff?
It isn’t caused by poor hygiene, and washing more often with a harsh shampoo usually makes it worse rather than better.
How do I stop dandruff coming back?
If flakes appear within a day or two of washing, the culprit is usually product residue rather than the dandruff itself. Rinse for longer than feels necessary.
Can dandruff cause hair loss?
If shedding continues once the flaking has settled, speak to your GP. Hair loss has plenty of causes unrelated to dandruff, and they’re worth ruling out.
Is it dandruff or a dry scalp?
Greasy roots with flaking is dandruff. Everything feeling tight is dryness. Plenty of people have both at once, which is why the flakes don’t always look consistent.
How do you get rid of dandruff naturally?
Worth avoiding apple cider vinegar, lemon juice and bicarbonate of soda. All three come up constantly, and all three shift the scalp’s pH sharply, usually leaving it more irritated than it started.
Can dandruff be cured permanently?
If flaking is severe and unchanged after a month, or your scalp is inflamed, weeping, crusting or painful, see your GP. Persistent severe flaking is often seborrhoeic dermatitis, which needs a proper diagnosis and usually a medicated treatment.
How do I get rid of dandruff overnight?
Nothing clears dandruff in a single night, but an overnight treatment is the fastest way to shift visible flakes. Apply a pre-shampoo scalp oil, massage it in for five minutes, leave it on overnight and shampoo out in the morning. The flakes soften and lift with the wash.
You’ll see fewer flakes the next day. Getting rid of dandruff properly still takes two to four weeks of consistent use, and anything promising otherwise is overselling it.
Is coconut oil good for dandruff?
If your scalp is dry rather than flaking, coconut oil may ease the tightness. It won’t do much for dandruff itself.
Is it dandruff or scalp psoriasis?
Dandruff flakes are loose, slightly oily and brush off easily. Scalp psoriasis produces thicker, silvery scales on clearly defined raised patches, with red skin underneath, and it usually appears elsewhere too, on elbows, knees or behind the ears.
If the patches are well defined, painful, bleeding or spreading beyond your scalp, see your GP. Scalp psoriasis and seborrhoeic dermatitis both need proper diagnosis, and neither is something a cosmetic oil treats.
