A dry scalp doesn’t announce itself. It just feels tight the moment you step out of the shower, itches by mid-afternoon, and gets worse every winter.

This one goes on before you shampoo, not after. Sesame, Sweet Almond and Avocado infused with Neem, Tulsi and Centella into the tight spots, soften them, and wash out with everything they’ve loosened.

Thirty minutes, or leave it as an overnight hair oil if you have time. Then wash it out.

Key Benefits of the Scalp Oil

Calms a dry, tight, itchy scalp

Works as a scalp moisturiser, not just a hair oil

Softens dry hair ends as well as the scalp

Puts moisture back before washing takes it away

Leave it overnight when your scalp has really had enough

Benefits

A Flaky Scalp Treatment

That Softens Rather Than Scrubs Dry flakes cling. Most people end up scratching or scrubbing at them, which irritates the scalp and produces more flaking a few days later. Oiling first loosens them so the shampoo lifts them away cleanly. You'll notice it in what comes off in the shower rather than what lands on your collar.

An Itchy, Flaky Scalp Remedy That Deals With the Cause

The itch is what keeps the whole thing running. You scratch without noticing, the scalp inflames, and an inflamed scalp flakes harder. Tulsi has been used on irritated scalps in Ayurvedic practice for centuries, and Neem works alongside it. Break the scratching and you've broken most of the cycle.

How to Get Rid of Scalp Build-Up

Styling residue, dry shampoo and old conditioner settle on the scalp and trap oil underneath. That's what the yeast feeds on, which is why flakes often get worse the more product you use. Think of it as a scalp detox that happens before the wash rather than instead of it.

An Anti-Dandruff Treatment Without the Tightness

Medicated shampoos work, and plenty of people can't get on with them. They leave the scalp dry, tender and worse than it started. There are no medicated actives in this bottle. Sesame, sweet almond and avocado carry the botanicals in and replenish the skin while they're there.

An Overnight Hair Treatment for Stubborn Flaking

Thirty minutes is the minimum worth bothering with. As a pre-shampoo treatment it has hours on your scalp rather than the minute a shampoo gets, and overnight is where that pays. It's also the answer if you're wondering why your scalp itches at night: warm room, no distractions, and you notice everything. Old pillowcase, shampoo out in the morning, and expect to wash twice.
How to Use

1. Section your hair
Divide into two or four sections so the oil reaches the scalp evenly rather than sitting on the hair.

2. Apply directly to the scalp
Use the dropper or your fingertips, working along each parting. Focus on the areas that feel dry or tight.

3. Massage for three to five minutes
Fingertips, not nails. Small circular movements across the whole scalp.

4. Leave it on
Thirty minutes minimum. Overnight for a more intensive treatment, using an old pillowcase or a hair wrap.

5. Shampoo out thoroughly
Apply shampoo to dry, oiled hair first, then add water and lather. Rinse until no residue remains. A second wash may be needed after overnight use.

How often: Once or twice weekly.

Safety Precautions

Age: Adults and children aged 12 and over. External use only.

General: Patch test first if your scalp reacts easily. Stop if it irritates. Don’t apply to broken or irritated skin.

Ingredients: Contains natural essential oils including Bergamot (0.4%), Lemon and Eucalyptus (0.3%).

Usage: Avoid the eyes and rinse with water if it gets in. Not for ingestion.

Storage: Below 25°C, cool and dry, out of direct sunlight. Keep the cap on tight.

FAQ

How do I get rid of dandruff?

Four steps, repeated for a month:
1. Oil the scalp before washing, so flakes soften and lift rather than needing to be scratched off.
2. Wash two to three times a week with an anti-dandruff shampoo, massaging for a full minute.
3. Condition the mid-lengths and ends only, keeping product off the roots.
4. Keep going once it clears, because dandruff is managed rather than cured.

Most people see a clear difference within two to four weeks. The mistake is stopping the moment your scalp looks better, which is why flaking so often returns a fortnight later.

What causes dandruff?

Dandruff is caused by an overgrowth of Malassezia, a yeast that lives on almost everyone’s scalp and feeds on its natural oils. When it multiplies faster than the skin can shed, you get flaking and itching. Excess sebum, product build-up, hard water, central heating and stress all tip the balance.

It isn’t caused by poor hygiene, and washing more often with a harsh shampoo usually makes it worse rather than better.

How do I stop dandruff coming back?

Keep a maintenance routine going rather than stopping when your scalp clears. That means an anti-dandruff shampoo once or twice a week, a pre-shampoo oil whenever the scalp feels tight or itchy, and rinsing thoroughly so no conditioner is left sitting at the roots.

If flakes appear within a day or two of washing, the culprit is usually product residue rather than the dandruff itself. Rinse for longer than feels necessary.

Can dandruff cause hair loss?

Dandruff doesn’t directly cause hair loss. It affects the surface of the scalp rather than the follicle. What does cause damage is persistent scratching, which breaks hair and inflames the skin, and that can increase shedding. Calming the itch protects your hair as much as your scalp.

If shedding continues once the flaking has settled, speak to your GP. Hair loss has plenty of causes unrelated to dandruff, and they’re worth ruling out.

Is it dandruff or a dry scalp?

Dandruff flakes are larger, slightly oily and often yellowish, and they cling to the hair. Dry scalp flakes are small, white and powdery, and they brush off easily. Dandruff tends to itch a few days after washing; a dry scalp itches straight afterwards.

Greasy roots with flaking is dandruff. Everything feeling tight is dryness. Plenty of people have both at once, which is why the flakes don’t always look consistent.

How do you get rid of dandruff naturally?

Use botanicals with evidence behind them rather than kitchen remedies. Neem has the longest record on flaking scalps, and rosemary alongside it has been studied against the yeast associated with dandruff. Apply as a pre-shampoo oil, leave for thirty minutes or overnight, then wash out.

Worth avoiding apple cider vinegar, lemon juice and bicarbonate of soda. All three come up constantly, and all three shift the scalp’s pH sharply, usually leaving it more irritated than it started.

Can dandruff be cured permanently?

No. Dandruff is managed rather than cured, because the yeast behind it lives on everyone’s scalp and can’t be permanently removed. What you can do is keep it in balance, and for most people that means a consistent weekly routine rather than an occasional intensive one.

If flaking is severe and unchanged after a month, or your scalp is inflamed, weeping, crusting or painful, see your GP. Persistent severe flaking is often seborrhoeic dermatitis, which needs a proper diagnosis and usually a medicated treatment.

How do I get rid of dandruff overnight?

Nothing clears dandruff in a single night, but an overnight treatment is the fastest way to shift visible flakes. Apply a pre-shampoo scalp oil, massage it in for five minutes, leave it on overnight and shampoo out in the morning. The flakes soften and lift with the wash.

You’ll see fewer flakes the next day. Getting rid of dandruff properly still takes two to four weeks of consistent use, and anything promising otherwise is overselling it.

Is coconut oil good for dandruff?

Coconut oil is a decent moisturiser, but there’s little evidence it acts on the yeast that causes dandruff. It also solidifies below room temperature, which makes it awkward to apply evenly and hard to wash out. Neem and rosemary have the research behind them.

If your scalp is dry rather than flaking, coconut oil may ease the tightness. It won’t do much for dandruff itself.

Is it dandruff or scalp psoriasis?

Dandruff flakes are loose, slightly oily and brush off easily. Scalp psoriasis produces thicker, silvery scales on clearly defined raised patches, with red skin underneath, and it usually appears elsewhere too, on elbows, knees or behind the ears.

If the patches are well defined, painful, bleeding or spreading beyond your scalp, see your GP. Scalp psoriasis and seborrhoeic dermatitis both need proper diagnosis, and neither is something a cosmetic oil treats.
