Benefits

What Is Black Seed Oil?

Black Seed Oil is pressed from Nigella sativa seeds, also known as black cumin, black caraway or kalonji. Ours is made from Egyptian seeds, cold-pressed and unrefined, giving it a naturally dark colour and distinctive peppery taste.
Use it as a daily supplement or apply it to the skin, scalp and hair.

2.5%+ Thymoquinone (TQ)

Thymoquinone, or TQ, is one of the key naturally occurring compounds in Nigella sativa.
Our current batch tested at 2.52% TQ by GC-MS, giving you a clear measure of the oil's thymoquinone content. Natural levels can vary between batches.

Black Seed Oil helps soften and condition dry-feeling skin. If your skin is sensitive, blend with a lighter carrier oil and patch test before first use.

Take 1-2 teaspoons daily, either directly from the spoon or mixed with honey, yoghurt, juice or a smoothie.
Its naturally strong, peppery taste is characteristic of cold-pressed Black Seed Oil.

Who Is It For?
  • People who already know Black Seed Oil 0 - If you grew up with kalonji, black cumin or Nigella sativa, you may already know its distinctive taste and traditional use. What matters here is 100% pure, cold-pressed Egyptian Black Seed Oil with a clearly stated 2.5%+ TQ content.
  • People discovering Nigella Sativa - If thymoquinone (TQ) is what brought you to Black Seed Oil, our current batch contains 2.5%+ TQ. Start with a smaller amount if you are new to its naturally strong, peppery taste.
  • People who prefer liquid Black Seed Oil to capsules - Liquid oil lets you measure your own serving and gives you the flexibility to use the same oil orally, on your skin or through your hair and scalp.
  • People looking for Black Seed Oil for hair & scalp - Use it as a simple pre-wash scalp and hair oil to help condition a dry-feeling scalp and leave dry, rough hair feeling softer and more manageable.
  • People who check what they are buying - One ingredient: 100% Nigella sativa seed oil. Cold-pressed, unrefined, Egyptian origin and with the thymoquinone level clearly stated rather than hidden behind vague descriptions of strength.
How to Use

Taking Black Seed Oil Daily

How much: Take 1-2 teaspoon (5ml) daily. If you’re new to Black Seed Oil, start with ½ teaspoon for the first few days to get used to its naturally strong, peppery taste.

When: Take it morning or evening, with or without food. Traditionally it is taken in the morning, often with honey, but consistency matters more than timing.

How to take it: Take straight from the spoon or mix with:

  • A teaspoon of honey
  • Yoghurt, juice or a smoothie
  • Salad dressings or hummus
  • Warm, not boiling, water
  • Finished foods after cooking

Avoid using Black Seed Oil for high-temperature cooking.

How long will a bottle last? At 5ml daily, a 100ml bottle provides around 20 servings. It will last less if you also use it on your hair or skin.

How to Use Black Seed Oil for Hair & Scalp

Pre-wash treatment: Massage a small amount into the scalp and work through the hair. Leave for 30-60 minutes, then shampoo thoroughly. Use once or twice a week.

For dry ends: Smooth 1-2 drops through the ends of damp or dry hair to help soften roughness and reduce the appearance of frizz. A little goes a long way.

How to Use Black Seed Oil on Skin

As a facial or body oil: Apply 2-3 drops to clean, slightly damp skin and gently press or massage until absorbed.

For sensitive skin: Dilute one part Black Seed Oil with two parts of a lighter carrier oil such as jojoba, sweet almond or coconut oil.

Patch test first: Apply a small amount to the inside of your elbow and wait 24 hours before wider use.

Storage

Store tightly closed in a cool, dark place away from direct sunlight and heat. Use within 12 months of opening.

FAQ

What is Black Seed Oil?

Black Seed Oil is pressed from the seeds of Nigella sativa, a plant also known as black cumin or kalonji. Our oil is made from Egyptian Nigella sativa seeds and is cold-pressed and unrefined for both oral and topical use.

What is Black Seed Oil good for?

Black Seed Oil is a versatile natural oil used as a daily supplement and for skin, scalp and hair care. It naturally contains thymoquinone (TQ) and can be taken orally or applied topically to help condition dry-feeling skin, scalp and hair.

Is Black Seed Oil the same as Nigella Sativa, Black Cumin Seed Oil and Kalonji Oil?

Yes. Black Seed Oil, Nigella Sativa Oil, Black Cumin Seed Oil and Kalonji Oil are commonly used names for oil pressed from Nigella sativa seeds. Checking the botanical name Nigella sativa on the ingredients list confirms the oil you are buying.

How do you take or consume Black Seed Oil?

Take 1–2 teaspoons of Black Seed Oil daily. It can be taken directly from the spoon or mixed with honey, yoghurt, juice or a smoothie. Its naturally strong, peppery taste is characteristic of cold-pressed Nigella sativa oil.

What are the benefits of Black Seed Oil for women?

Black Seed Oil can be used by women as a daily Nigella sativa supplement and as a topical oil for skin, scalp and hair. There is no separate type of Black Seed Oil required for women, choose a pure, cold-pressed oil and follow the recommended daily intake.

What is thymoquinone (TQ) in Black Seed Oil?

Thymoquinone, shortened to TQ, is one of the key naturally occurring compounds found in Nigella sativa. Our current Egyptian Black Seed Oil batch contains 2.5%+ TQ, giving you a clear measure of its thymoquinone content. Natural TQ levels can vary between batches.

Why choose cold-pressed Black Seed Oil?

Cold pressing extracts the oil from Nigella sativa seeds without solvent extraction or refining. Our cold-pressed Black Seed Oil retains its naturally dark colour, distinctive aroma and strong, peppery flavour rather than being refined into a lighter, milder oil.

Is Black Seed Oil good for skin?

Black Seed Oil can be used topically to soften and condition dry-feeling skin. Apply two or three drops to clean, slightly damp skin and massage gently. If you have sensitive skin, patch test first or blend it with a lighter carrier oil.

How do you use Black Seed Oil for hair and scalp?

Massage a small amount of Black Seed Oil into the scalp and work it through the hair before shampooing. Leave for around 30 minutes before washing to help condition a dry-feeling scalp and leave dry or rough hair feeling softer and more manageable.

What should I look for when choosing the best Black Seed Oil in the UK?

Look for 100% Nigella sativa, cold-pressed and unrefined oil with no added carrier oils. Clear information on origin, thymoquinone (TQ) content, batch testing and how the oil is produced also makes it easier to compare Black Seed Oils before buying.
